Photoshop: About Resolution
Resolution is the number of pixels contained in one square inch or cm.
The value is calculated resolution in pixels per inch (abbreviated ppi) or pixels per cm (ppc abbreviated).
The image has a resolution of 72 ppi, meaning that in one square inch there are only 72 pixels.
With a resolution of 72 pixels make the image look less good.
Images that have a resolution of 300 pixels per square inch. As a result the image looks more clean and nice.
Click the Image Size to open the Image Size dialog box. In the dialog box is written the value of image resolution.
For example, a bitmap image is resolution dependent. The image quality depends on a lot or
pixels that make up the picture or called by the term resolution.
The size of that used in the determination of resolution is dpi (dots per inch) or ppi (pixels per inch).
Resolution bitmap images that appear on the monitor screen using a resolution of the monitor 72 or 96 ppi,
though the picture has a resolution of 300 ppi.
Determination of images for printing begins from here. Needs high-quality images obtained
through the process of image input from other meda such as scanners.
Generally, the resolution needed to produce great image detail 300 ppi.
Nevertheless there are some rules that need to be considered in determining an effective image resolution and
efficient, which is based on the type of paper used in printing.
Standardization raster or better known as the screen ruling for each type of paper is different.
After the screen ruling is known only then do we determine the image resolution bitmapnya.
Generally the determination of image resolution is twice the screen ruling. Size used is the LPI (lines per inch).

Because bitmap images are very dependent on image resolution (resolution dependent),
very difficult for us to perform the enlargement and diminution in the picture.
These activities will affect the image quality.
